Donated by Dr. Robert Gotcher Historically, this is one of the most important bonsai and the longest in cultivation in the United States. In 1863 during Lincoln’s presidency, Burlingame was envoy to China and this was a gift when he visited Japan. The original Burlingame estate became the city of Burlingame, CA. Daimyo was the title of feudal rulers before the Meiji restoration in 1871.

You ever wake up in the middle of the night and wonder, “have I taught my child enough to handle artifacts?!”
